Pro-life Activist Murdered Outside School

From Foxnews:
A well-known anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed Friday morning in front of a Michigan high school, and another man was shot and killed just miles away in what police are investigating as related incidents.
From Lifenews:

LifeNews.com has learned that the pro-life advocate is James Pouillon and the local Argus Press newspaper in Owosso has confirmed that to be the case. He was reportedly shot multiple times.

In the spot where the Pouillon stood, a portable oxygen tank lay next to a sign with a picture of an unborn child and the word "Life."

Father Frank Pavone, the director of Priests for Life, has commented on the shooting in an email to LifeNews.com.

"We do not know the motive yet. But this is a time to console one
another, and to renew our determination to organize peaceful protests," he said. "It is no time for fear."

Pavone called on abortion advocates to comdemn the shooting.

"And I am waiting to hear the abortion advocates condemn this killing
," he said.

America's Independence Day

IN CONGRESS, July 4, 1776.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

This Michael Jackson post is actually about the people of Iran

When news broke yesterday that Michael Jackson had died, I thought to myself, "Wow, Michael Jackson is dead. Crazy."

Within seconds the following thoughts proceeded:
  • If I was an Iranian protestor being shot at right now while fighting for my rights, I would be really pissed at the media right now. This would be worse news for me if I was one of them.
  • Hey, wasn't this the guy who was repeatedly accused of child molestation, mutilated his own face and dangled his infant child over the balcony of a building? Did I just hear him described in heroic terms just because he could dance and just died unexpectedly? Weird how that happens when famous people die...
  • Well, I guess it was unexpected to a point. Anyone who saw pictures of him in the last several years probably shouldn't be too stunned that he had some serious health issues that could reasonably lead to death. Really, it's not weird that someone with that lifestyle died in this manner, though it is unfortunate.
  • Jackson did have some fun music (though I have never wanted to buy it). I was reminded when my neighbors started blasting it last night. I get it. He was a HUGE celebrity. It's news.
  • But I'm still more concerned about the Iranians and how this could effect their cause in a global sense, even though our media isn't. Nor are some of my Facebook friends, though I theorize some of those same people probably never gave much thought to the news from Iran, let alone know what Iran is.
  • That makes me angry.
  • I'm over the gratuitous Michael Jackson coverage and celebrity worship. It's out of control.
In fact, there are a lot of things I'm more concerned about: Iran, Neda's family, North Korea, our troops overseas, Darfur, the kids waiting to be sponsored through Compassion International, our economy and the frightening government overreach that will only make it worse, cap and trade, thousands of unborn babies being killed each day in the US through abortion, etc. The list goes on, but you get the idea.

Today, I hoped people would get a grip on life and mourn the loss of Jackson with some self-control and perspective. Congress did what they've become too good at doing and ruined any hopes quickly by using taxpayer funded time to praise Jackson's "grace" and "mercy," punctuated with a moment of silence. Then, I turned on Fox News to hear a host say they have breaking news that Elizabeth Taylor reportedly collapsed at the news of Jackson's death. I'm not making that up. That was "news" today.

I had to dig past the Jackson coverage today to find the real breaking news at ABC news:

A senior cleric on Friday urged Iran's protest leaders to be punished "without mercy" and said some should face execution — harsh calls that signal a nasty new turn in the regime's crackdown on demonstrators two weeks after its disputed election.

Hard-liners have ordered long sentences and hangings before, and some fear those awaiting trial by a judiciary whose verdicts reflect the will of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could face the most severe punishments the Islamic system can dish out.

"Anyone who takes up arms to fight with the people, they are worthy of execution," Ayatollah Ahmed Khatami, a ranking cleric, said in a nationally broadcast sermon at Tehran University.

I'm not the only one concerned about the coverage today. Some blogs and websites understand; just don't turn on the television. The Daily Beast is running an article with the headline "Will Jacko Doom Iran?" Click here to read the entire piece:

Rubin cited Sudan as an example of where international pressure, encouraged by heavy media coverage, helped force the government to significantly reduce violence.

“It's a sad commentary that celebrity still trumps national security in news coverage, but that’s the world we live in,” he said.

It's not just Rubin at the right-leaning American Enterprise Institute who has voiced concern. National-security blogger Spencer Ackerman, a prominent commentator on the progressive side, also raised the issue on his site.

“I think we can agree that the Iranian regime benefits from the media rush to memorialize, explore and reflect upon Michael Jackson and his legacy,” Ackerman wrote in a blog post last night. In an e-mail interview, Ackerman told the Beast that “anything that takes up Twitter bandwidth away from [the Iran election] is bad for the opposition, and anything that distracts the cable networks from showing images of the crackdown is similarly bad.” He added that the international media distractions could give the regime "more room to violently suppress its opposition during a critical phase.”

Look, I don't care if fans are out having their own gatherings to remember his music. I don't care if the radio stations and MTV play his music all day long. That's where the attention belongs. It does not belong in Congress on the taxpayers' dime, and it is no longer breaking news deserving of 24 hour, full banner coverage. There are more important stories for the media to focus on. Tonight, I'm giving my personal attention to the stories of women living under the repressive and violent Iranian regime. I'm going to see The Stoning of Soraya M. You should too. You can't bring Michael Jackson back, but you can become more educated about the ongoing situation in Iran and repressed people around the world, and we can stand with those fighting it to make a difference in people's lives right now.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, so this is a very good evening for me. My wonderful city has now won the 2009 Superbowl and Stanley Cup, and some hometown favorite Yuengling has only made it better. Unfortunately for you, there is no video of my own hysterics during game 7 tonight, but I can assure you my voice will be rather scratchy tomorrow. What "right wing" are they referring to, the one on planet Mars?

After another unfortunate shooting at the hand of a crazy man took place in D.C. at the Holocaust Museum yesterday, the perpetrator was immediately characterized as a radical "right - winger" by the media and opportunistic liberal bloggers. How do they know he's "right - wing" though? Among the groups and people the murderer James von Brunn hated:

Nope, that is no right-winger. At least not on this planet. Several sites have more information on the opinions of this madman and why only crazy opportunists would say he's a conservative.

I noted yesterday and this morning that Holocaust Museum nutball was an equal-opportunity hater. He railed against Fox News and Rupert Murdoch.

The Examiner:

The anti-semitism of von Brunn is the first thing one notices when visiting these bizarre websites. However, like those of most "white supremacists", many of von Brunn's political views track "Left" rather than "Right." Clearly, a re-evaluation of these obsolete definitions is long overdue.

For example, he unleashed his hatred of both Presidents Bush and other "neo-conservatives" in online essays. As even some "progressives" such as the influential Adbusters magazine publicly admit, "neoconservative" is often used as a derogatory code word for "Jews". As well, even a cursory glance at "white supremacist" writings reveals a hatred of, say, big corporations that is virtually indistinguishable from that of anti-globalization activists.

James von Brunn's advocacy of 9/11 conspiracy theories also gives him an additional commonality with individuals on the far-left.

The Weekly Standard:

Two other sources said two FBI agents arrived shortly after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the 17th Street offices of the magazine. They told staffers that they had found the address of the magazine on a piece of paper associated with the shooter, James von Brunn, and asked whether the Standard had received any threats.

The magazine is about a mile north of the Holocaust Museum, and there's no other indication that von Brunn had targeted it. Von Brunn's published rants included attacks on "neocons," and the Standard has been at the heart of the neoconservative movement.

A review of his lengthy associations reveals Von Brunn hardly fits the stereotype of a Religious Right, GOP precinct captain. He denounced the Christian faith as a dastardly Jewish conspiracy, a “HOAX” invented by the Apostle Paul to “DESTROY ROMAN CULTURE” from within by undermining its pagan virility. (All screaming capitalization and grammatical errors in this piece appear in the original.) Like others on the racist fringe, the shooter proclaimed clearly: “SOCIALISM, represents the future of the West.”...
If Von Brunn shared the anti-Christian hatred expressed by Revilo Oliver, he accepted the collectivist, socialist views of Francis Parker Yockey, a guiding light and philosopher of fascism unafraid of aligningwith Third World socialists.

The Other McCain:

Having done a bit of sifting of the facts on James Von Brunn, exactly how does a neocon-hating 9/11 Truther (e.g., Rosie O'Donnell) qualify as "right-wing," extreme or otherwise?

There's a definitional problem here, and 
when you blame Rush Limbaugh, Ms. Walsh, you are trying to have your neocon-hating cake and eat it, too. (Via Memeorandum.)
But all the contrary evidence has not stopped those who also hate conservatives from trying to label this an act of "right wing terrorism" with no evidence to back their knee-jerk claim. Here's just a few samples.

With news of a horrific incident of domestic terrorism Wednesday at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., the second major attack by a far-right gunman in less than two weeks, the government's warnings may have been dismissed too easily by critics who decried them as a smear against conservatives.

Ann Coulter, the self-described "conservative Christian" right-wing talking head, is much on my mind as I contemplate the horrifying images that came out of Washington from the Holocaust Museum, where white supremacist James von Brunn opened fire in an attempted mass-murder of Jews. His killing spree was cut short by security guard Stephen Tyrone Jones who put himself in the line of fire and died so others might live.

Joan Walsh at Salon and on MSNBC with fellow liar Chris Matthews:

I was on "Hardball" today talking about the climate of extreme right-wing rhetoric today, and whether it had anything to do with Wednesday's tragic shooting at Washington's Holocaust Museum, or the May 31 murder of Dr. George Tiller by an antiabortion crackpot.

I tried to choose my words carefully. Unless it's shown that either man had accomplices, we have to be clear that the men responsible for those murders are the ones who pulled the trigger. Still, it's hard not to think about the extreme right-wing rhetoric, especially about Barack Obama, and whether it could conceivably lead to more right-wing violence...

Andrew Breitbart had this to say in his Facebook status today:

"F.U. MSM: This Holocaust Museum killer creep job was a 9/11 truther (a left-wing phenomenon), hated Neo-Cons (Jews like me,) Bush, McCain and hated the right's beloved Israel (also a leftist phenomenon, mostly) -- and you -- in conjunction with the Democratic Party try to say he is an example of the 'far right' that is against Obama -- all for the sickening sake of political gain? We won't forget this, you thugs."
