Monique Stuart has a good post on Nancy Pelosi's somewhat comical yet dangerous and disgraceful ruse over the "enhanced interrogations" she was obviously briefed on by the CIA. Pelosi, third in line for the Presidency, charged the CIA this week with lying to the American people deliberately. From Monique:It’s so easy to judge in retrospect. We’re all against torture….now. How did we all feel on 9/11 2001 at about 10 a.m.? I have this weird inclination to believe that we would have voted and acted very differently when it comes to “enhanced interrogation techniques.”
The CIA has been working to keep Americans safe from another terrorist attack. Pelosi is trying to disrupt that for her own political gain. Like Monique said in her post, Pelosi needs to be honest about both the briefings and the fact that 9/11 had a profound impact on the way we have dealt with suspected terrorists since.
And good luck taking on the CIA, Nancy. They seem less likely to roll over for you than Cheney does for Obama.
